In the Grief Support Directory below you will first find a short list of key Crisis Phone/Text/Online services, and then a directory of links to online grief support resources and groups helping us all to cope with the Grieving process. These resources have been suggested by grief support network mobile app users and My Grief Angels website users/visitors.  They are organized by type of loss, and there is a section on International resources which is by country.

IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY Facing a life-threatening, physical or mental health emergency, please call 911 immediately.  The resources highlighted below are shared as secondary support services and organizations, and not a replacement for seeking immediate emergency help from 911.

It is the first service of its kind where crisis centers across the United States have joined together to form one national chat network that can provide online emotional support, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention services. Chat specialists are available to listen and support you through whatever difficult times you may be facing.  Lifeline Crisis Chat is available in the United States and its territories.  If you are visiting from outside the US, please check outhttp://www.suicide.org/international-suicide-hotlines.html for a list of international helplines.

IMAlive - https://www.imalive.org/who-we-are/about-imalive/ - “IMAlive is a live online network that uses INSTANT MESSAGING  to respond to people in crisis. People need a safe place to go during moments of crisis and intense emotional pain...You are panicked, short of breath, and the pain is so palpable that you cannot feel or think about anything else. The terror of picking up the phone to call a hotline not knowing who will answer prevents you from doing so. Or, even if you have the courage to pick up the phone, the sound of the person’s voice scares you & you hang up. We know this happens because over 30% of all people who call suicide hotlines do just that—they hang up as soon as they hear the human voice. More importantly, we recognize the technological age we find ourselves in today and we know that millions of people in crisis will never pick up the phone. We believe that IMAlive is part of the solution to the problem.”

II. Online/Text/Phone Grief Support Sites & Services:

For people who do not have or cannot access local grief support counselors or grief support groups - the internet and our mobile phones provide access to new online, text-based, and chat-based grief counseling services from licensed therapists/corporations, OR coaches & trained listeners.  Increasingly, a number of companies and organizations have started to provide grief counseling via unlimited texts or emails for a fixed weekly fee.  Some of these services are listed below, but please understand that we are not affiliated with, nor endorsed any of these groups. They are provided here strictly for the educational and informational objectives of this course:

- www.betterhelp.com/about/# (online-based) - Approx. $40 for a week of unlimited text-messaging with a licensed therapist , but this is a subscription service so make sure to ask what is the minimum charge to get started and how do you end the subscription.  At the time this was updated, this group offered financial aid/discounts and you can apply online directly on their site.

- www.TalkSpace.com (text-based) - Approx. $35-50 for a week of unlimited text-messaging with a licensed therapist, but as the other service above, this is a subscription service so make sure to ask for total costs upfront and how do you cancel the subscription service after you are done utilizing the service.

- www.breakthrough.com/ - Self-pay or insurance rates usually listed with each therapist.

- www.7cups.com/ (chat) - Chatting with coaches or trained "listeners" - who may not be a licensed mental health professional or therapist.

- https://joyable.com - Chatting with coaches or trained listeners - who may not be a licensed mental health professional or  therapist.

Consumer Alert/Information:  In addition to the above services, there are many other new online and mobile services appearing daily, but in all cases, please be aware that  some of these sites that offer you "free" trials will then automatically sign you up for a mandatory weekly or monthly billing plan, or try to later upsell you to other much more expensive services - ASK Upfront and keep all related email/chat records on questions about all the costs associated with the service you seek; how do you stop the service from billing you further if you no longer need it, and check the major review sites for verified reviews of others that have used their services.

So many of us understand the immense pain and anguish of giving birth in silence and having our babies torn from our lives, leaving us with broken hearts, emptiness, and shattered dreams. We exist to give recognition to the babies born in silence when the world wants to say they were not babies since they did not breathe air. We hope that by gifting a keepsake necklace with your beautiful baby's name on it, you will know that your child counted. We hope that you will find comfort and healing through those of us who have survived, and share your baby’s beautiful story so that we may remember them.

http://www.sesameworkshop.org/what-we-do/our-initiatives/dealing-with-grief-30-detail.html - United States - When Families Grieve. Our When Families Grieve program was developed to help children summon the strength to heal after the death of a parent. About 2.5 million American children under age 18 have experienced the death of a parent, including the more than 12,000 who have lost a parent in the military over the past eight years. While nothing can fully shelter a child from the impact of such a loss, When Families Grieve outreach materials have proven to provide some comfort. The effort includes two outreach kits in both English and Spanish — one specifically for military families, as part of our larger efforts to support these families, and another for the general public.

The primary reasons were due to parental drug/alcohol use, abuse, neglect, incarceration, death, mental illness and more. The impact of parenting again, required a total change in lifestyle.
